Marismas / cyanotype series / 8.3x11.7 in / 2025
This series consists of 80 (eighty) cyanotypes, each 8.3 × 11.7 inches, printed on transparency, tracing paper, and bond paper. The process begins with drawing, followed by the application of sensitizing chemistry across all sheets at once, allowing the fluid solution to seep and settle into each surface differently. The works then soak for several days in a light-sealed container, where the compounds continue to move, absorb, and stain. They remain unfixed, so even after drying, light continues to shape and slowly alter their tones. Each piece functions as a module, a small terrain shaped by liquid contact and material response. Together, they form a larger field that evokes the estuaries of the Texas Gulf Coast, where land and water continuously meet, blend, and remake one another.
